Important Update: TSS Earnslaw E-Bike Battery Restriction

Please take note of a new operational requirement from RealNZ. Effective immediately, while bicycles are still welcome on board the TSS Earnslaw, e-bike batteries are no longer permitted on the vessel.

This is a new safety requirement due to the unique heritage nature of the steamship. For all riders and tour operators planning a crossing, please note the following:

• Battery Removal: All e-bike batteries must be removed from the frame before boarding.
• Alternative Transport Required: Batteries cannot be carried on the TSS Earnslaw and must be transported separately. This can be done via a support vehicle or an alternative lake crossing (such as the Spirit of Queenstown catamaran), subject to their specific carriage terms.
• Plan Ahead: To ensure a smooth journey and avoid being turned away at the Steamer Wharf, please ensure your transport for batteries is confirmed before you arrive for departure. If you are booked with a tour provider, please contact them directly to discuss their battery transport arrangements.
