Welcome Rock Trails
Welcome Rock Trails, located 3 km east of Garston and the Around the Mountains Trail offers hiking, biking and accommodation set on a private high-country farm. Established in 1911 this family property is 1000m above sea level, nationally protected, remote, peaceful, rugged, and romantic. On-Farm Accommodation Options:
- Kit’s Crib (tiny home, opening October 2023) is suitable for 2, beautifully set on a terrace 500m behind the farm homestead.
- The Red Shed and Shepherd’s Sleepout are old farm buildings converted into lodgings for between 2 and 4 people.
Welcome Rock Trails and Accommodation Options:
- The Slate Hut is 2.5km along the trail, sleeping up to 4.
- The Mud Hut is a Chinese Gold Miners gem, 9km along the trail. Sleeping up to 4.
Hiking the trail is suitable for those with average fitness. Biking the trail is for those with good back country single track skills (Grade 3 plus) and is a 27km journey.
